Re: Depression thread part two
Joe royal, yes the tribunal would, as long as you informed your employer as soon as you fell ill. Once you inform the employer they have to make reasonable adjustments as long as you are covered by the equalities act. This is usually done by sending the individual for a workplace assessment and then going along with the recommendations made by the assessor.

Re: Depression thread part two
If you was an employer and you had two identical CVs but one said I have an invisible illness so I need time off for no apparent reason (to you) or the one that says 'I'm in good health and can work 300 days a year '

Who would you employ?

Also if you didn't declare being depressed but took time off because of it do you really think a court would be sympathetic?

Whenever I get down (not depressed) I think of all the people I know or even may not know who are having a fucking awful terrible life.

Then I have a good laugh

Re: Depression thread part two
good luck Bolty and more strength to your arm - ignore the idiots and do what you need to do.

I've never seen a workplace deal well with mental health probs - even in the NHS. (no shock probably.

Bets advice i ever heard (from someone with lifelong bipolar) was when depressed best thing you can do it go for a good walk every day.

all the best

Enoch Nutter

Many anti Depressants have barstard withdrawl symptoms if you take them for long enough as do anti psychotics. I'd say he had anxiety issues rather than depression

Bolty,

Get some Sertraline. It's an SSRI anti depressant but it's probably the best one for targeting anxiety. It's also used for treating OCD in children, so should be right up your street :)

I think it's important to be up front and honest about mental health and so in that spirit I would like to say:
